Should I use poison to get rid of the rats INSIDE my house?

You should NEVER use poison INSIDE your house to get rid of rats. When you use poison there is absolutely no way to control where the rats will die. If a rat dies in your walls somewhere that cannot be reached, it will create a very nasty smell that will last for weeks. Don’t be fooled by other companies that tell you that they use a “special“ kind of poison where the rats get thirsty and go out to drink water by the lake and die when they are out there. The only time it is safe to use poison is after you are certain that all of the entry points on the outside of your house are completely sealed up and no Rats can get back in. Then and only then should you consider using bait stations on the exterior of your home to keep future rats from chewing new openings in the future. The best way to get rid of rats out of your home is to use traps inside. By doing so, once the rat is trapped, it can be picked up and removed with no foul odors to worry about. What steps do you take to control rats and get rid of rodents permanently?

Step one is to have you show us where you’ve been hearing or seeing rats in your home. Step two is for us to do a complete inspection of your attic as this is where most rats nest and spend the majority of their time. At this point we will determine whether you have roof rats or Norway rats, Then we will set the right amount and type of traps based on the evidence so we can start catching rats right away. Step three is to inspect the exterior and find all holes and entry points large enough for young rats to get in and seal those up. Step four is to simply trap out any remaining rats that may have been sealed inside. Depending upon the level of rodent infestation step five may be to do a vacuum and disinfect of the areas that were soiled by the rats to prevent the spread of diseases.
